The Perham boys golf team kicked off the season Thursday, April 22, at Birchwood Golf Course in Pelican Rapids, where they took fourth. Perham's Marcus Belka was the top medalist with a score of 73, winning by four strokes.
It was the first varsity meet for much of the team, and head coach Peder Butenhoff said they struggled to find balance. "We had good growing pains on the day," he said.
Barnesville finished first with a team score of 322, and Trojans Adam Tonsfeldt and Ryan Rustad rounded out the top three with a 77 and 79, respectively.
Hawley took second with a 342, followed by Breckenridge with a 358 and Perham with a 360. Rounding out the top five were Hawley's Jack Justesen and Breckenridge's Dawson Wienbar, both shooting 81, and Barnesville's Logan Ernst, who finished with an 82.
Rounding out the scores for Perham, Jaxon Bain finished 13th with a 95, Brayden Glorvigen and Ethan Guck tied for 14th with a 96, Tait Borman came in 16th with a 99, and Gunner Starzl finished 22nd with a 112.

The next meet for the Yellowjackets is Monday, April 26, at noon at Frazee Golf Course.
