Winning streak continues for Yellowjacket girls on the road

The Perham Yellowjacket girls basketball team took its winning streak to the road and extended it with a big 68-38 victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines on Dec. 22 in Wadena, Minn.

The Yellowjackets had three players finish in double figures with nine players recording points in the win. Sara Herrmann finished with 13 points, while Josie Beachy added 12 points. Gabby DeBoer finished with 10 points.

The Yellowjackets wasted little time in taking the lead, cruising to a 15 point first half lead. The Yellowjackets continued to put their foot on the gas, controlling the second half as well. The Yellowjackets outscored the Wolverines, 33-18, in the second half.

Casey Volkmann finished with 11 points. She did most of her damage at the free throw line. She scored six of her 11 points at the line. Kennedy Gravelle ended the game with seven points for the Wolverines.

Leah Muer and Janie Wunderlich ended with eight points each as well for the Yellowjackets.

The victory extended the Yellowjackets winning streak to six games and improves the Yellowjackets record to 7-1 overall. The Yellowjackets moved to 3-1 away from the Hive with the victory.

The Yellowjackets put their perfect home court record on the line when they host Heritage Christian Academy in their Grand 8 Holiday Classic Opener on Dec. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Prairie Wind Middle School gymnasium.
