Yellowjackets rally for road win

The Perham Yellowjackets found themselves in a big hole for the second straight game when they took on the Pequot Lakes Patriots on May 16 in Pequot Lakes. For the second straight game, the Yellowjackets rallied and pulled out a 9-8 victory.

The Yellowjackets were down 7-2 after the first inning, yet rallied with three in the third, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and the eventual game-winning run in the seventh.

Nick Lindberg earned the win in relief. He went six and 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out six and walked one. It was a strong rebound performance for Lindberg, who struggled against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton when they built up an 8-0 lead.

Lindberg, Roo Schmitz and Pat Johnson finished with two hits in the game. Elias Hoffman and Ryan Kalina added hits as well. Kalina drove home four runs in the win, while Johnson plated two runs. Schmitz and Hoffman had RBIs as well.

The victory improves the Yellowjackets to 11-4 overall with a key doubleheader looming with Frazee at 4 p.m. on May 18 at Krueger Field. The game will play a big role in the seedings for Section 8AA, as well as crowning of a Heart O’Lakes Conference Champion. Currently, Barnesville sits in first at 5-1 in the conference, with Perham sitting at 6-2 and Frazee sitting at 7-3.
