HOL announces baseball awards

The Heart O’Lakes Conference recently announced their awards for the 2017 baseball season. It announced the conference’s Most Valuable Player, Most Outstanding Pitcher, All-Conference Team and Honorable Mention awards for the the season.

Frazee’s Logan Wacker was named the HOL Most Valuable Player. Wacker hit .465 in conference play with an on base percentage of .511. He struck out only twice during conference season. While pitching, he was 2-0 with a 2.30 earned run average.

The HOL Most Outstanding Pitcher went to Barnesville’s Joey Roste. The senior hurler started four conference games and appeared on the mound in a total of eight of the 12 conference games for Barnesville. Roste was 5-0 with a .50 earned run average, allowing just two earned runs and 15 base hits in 28 innings pitched.

Barnesville was the Heart O’Lakes Conference Champions for the 2017 season. It was the first in school’s history. Perham finished second in the HOL and second in the section. Barnesville finished with a 9-3 conference mark, while Perham ended the conference season with an 8-4 mark. Frazee was third with a 7-5 record, while DGF came in with a 6-6 mark as did Hawley and Breckenridge. Pelican Rapids finished the conference season winless.
