Yellowjackets fall on the road to Hawley

After winning seven straight games, the Perham volleyball team has lost two straight. They dropped a decision to Bemidji on Sept. 25 and followed it with a 21-25, 15-25, 21-25 defeat to Hawley on Sept. 26.

The Yellowjackets are now 10-7 on the season and return home, hoping to spark another winning streak. The Yellowjackets take on Barnesville in a Heart O’Lakes Conference contest on Sept. 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Yellowjackets struggled to get on track against the Nuggets, who avenged an early season sweep in Perham, with the victory. Paige Thompson and Marissa Thompson sparked the Nuggets, helping them gain a measure of revenge. The powerful hitting duo used their strong attack to take advantage of a wore down Yellowjacket team.

The Yellowjackets were coming off a long road trip to Bemidji, which went the distance with the Yellowjackets falling in five.

Hannah Ekse and Gabby DeBoer led the Perham attack. They finished with 10 kills each. Laura Alstadt finished with six kills in the game. However, errors hurt the Yellowjackets. They finished with 21 attack errors in the loss.

Allie King led the way with 21 assists. Lisa Meader finished with 20 digs, while DeBoer added 14.
