Dragon athletics excited to celebrate 50 seasons of volleyball and 100 seasons of football

It is a celebration that has been 150 years in the making as Dragon Athletics announced during the 2018 fall seasons, the department will be celebration 100 seasons of Dragon Football and 50 seasons of Dragon Volleyball.

"You only turn 100 and 50 once and we want make the most of these milestones," said Dragon Athletic Director Doug Peters. "The accomplishments of our football and volleyball programs are fantastic.  When it is all said and done the wins and losses pale in comparison to the impact that these sports have had on the hundreds and hundreds of Dragons who put on the red and white for our football and volleyball teams."

The celebrations will go throughout the respective seasons starting in the respective pre-season camps.  At the beginning of each week a historical snapshot over a period of time will include news and notes on significant wins and losses, pivotal changes within the time frame, and some behind the scenes looks at each of the programs.  In addition "Why Wednesday's" will debut as current student-athletes share why they are proud to be a Dragon and what the history of the program means to them. Wrapping up the week "Dragons Today" will profile what former players and coaches are up to now.

In addition, during the #AllDragons18 All-Sport Reunion weekend a program highlighting the 50 Seasons of Dragon Volleyball including videos and special presenters will be held after the Dragons take on Bemidji State  in the Sept. 14 game. More information can be found at
