The Detroit Lakes Lakers will keep possession of the Paddle for another year.
The Lakers offense scored early, giving them the advantage in a 28-10 victory over the Yellowjackets at Meinhover Field in Perham on Friday, Oct. 30.
Detroit Lakes opened up scoring with 5:31 left in the first quarter. When the Lakers Christian Solberg found a scoring opportunity off of a 22-yard pass from Matthew Tobkin. Joseph Heinlein found an opportunity for the Lakers again bringing them to 14 in the first quarter.
Finn Diggins got the Yellowjackets on the board off of a 49-yard touchdown pass from Josh Peterson. Jacob Kalina collected 14 more points for the Lakers in the second and fourth quarter.
The Yellowjackets have dealt with plenty of injuries this season. Standout Noah Rooney was injured two weeks ago and remains out. Quarterback Colton Hackel was out for this game. Junior Josh Peterson was at the helm for Perham.
Next up for the Perham Yellowjacket is a matchup at East Grand Forks on Nov. 6.
