The Perham Yellowjackets have officially been seeded and scheduled for the section 8AAA playoffs.
It was announced on Thursday that Perham would take the number three seed just below Dilworth-Gyldon-Felton and Pequot Lakes. With that position the Yellowjackets will be set to play Park Rapids at home on Nov. 17. The matchup is set to kickoff at 6 p.m.
Perham head coach Kyle Knutson said that his team has been really focused in their preparation for their first round game.
“More and more players are studying scout film as well so that is nice. They also see how and why we may block or who we block on given plays and instead of just knowing what they do and why they do it they see how their job affects other player’s jobs and how the success of a play is all tied to that,” Knutson said. “This is our goal, of course, from the beginning of the season. We try to not only build better football players we also want to help them become smarter football players.”
Knutson said that Park Rapids will bring physical competition to the Yellowjackets on Tuesday night. He added that his team has to be prepared not to give up when the game gets rough.
“They are not a team that rolls over so we need to be focused and do our jobs at a high level,” Knutson said. “We will need to play mistake free football and execute all positions well.”
Looking back, the Yellowjackets beat the Panthers in their season opening game. The Yellowjackets took the victory 40-7. Perham’s season record is 3-3, winning two games in a row to end the regular season.
