PERHAM -- The Perham baseball team took on Pequot Lakes on April 27, in a 8AA doubleheader, winning both games by scores of 6-1 and 4-0.
In game one, Jesse Hein pitched a complete game allowing five hits and striking out eight Patriot batters.
Pequot Lakes took the lead in the second inning with a double by Gage Kennedy, which scored Austin Mesenbrink who had reached as a result of a walk. That run would be the only run Pequot lakes would get the rest of the day.
Perham tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the third inning when Gabe Pankonin scored on a ground ball hit to shortstop by Chris Ruther.
In the fourth, Eric Brauch tripled to start the inning and scored as a result of a balk by pitcher Jordan Redmond to take the lead 2-1.

In the fifth inning, Perham scored four more runs by sending eight batters to the plate and was helped by Redmond walking two batters, outfield error by the Patriots right fielder and Dylan Ellingson's two-RBI single.
The 6-1 victory was fifth victory in a row for the Yellowjackets.
In game two, Perham was looking to extend the winning streak and got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning, starting with a double by Pankonin, who then stole third and scored on a passed ball. Ruther would then walk, steal second and score on a Brauch single.
The score would remain 2-0 until the sixth inning, when Ruther led off the inning with a walk. Brauch would again single in Ruther and Jack Stigman hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Brauch.
The 4-0 lead was more than enough for pitcher Dylan Ellingson, who allowed just one hit and struck out six Patriot batters in seven innings of work.
Perham is now 7-3 on the season and takes on Staples Tuesday, May 1.
