Longtime Perham baseball coach Hans Hanson was inducted into the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Oct. 26.
Hanson coached the Yellowjackets from 1998-2015 where he led the Yellowjackets to six state tournaments, including a runner-up finish in 2013. Hanson eclipsed the 300 win mark during his career and finished with a career record of 324-107 for a career win percentage of .752. Hanson’s Yellowjackets captured 11 conference championships during his 18 year career at the helm.
Hanson was named the Minnesota High School Baseball Coach of the Year in 2003.
Joining Hanson in the Hall of Fame was Holdingford’s Dale Bruns, Ortonville’s Jon Fellows, Windom’s Jack Kelly, Hill-Murray’s Bill Lechner, Cannon Falls’ Bucky Lindow, Cretin-Derham Hall’s Jim O’Neil and Litchfield’s Jeff Wollin.
The Hall of Fame group was honored during the Minnesota Twins season as well on Aug. 23 at Target Field when the Twins hosted the inductees for a ceremony prior to the Twins game against the Detroit Tigers.
