Perham makes it 20 straight with win over Frazee

The Perham boys basketball team picked up its 20th straight win of the season with an 89-32 victory over the Frazee Hornets on Feb. 9 in Frazee.

It was a balanced scoring night for the Yellowjackets, who rolled out to a 54-17 first half lead and cruised to the road win. Jenson Beachy finished with 17 points, while Martin LaFond and Finn Diggins chipped in with 11 each. Ben Winkels added nine points as well. The Yellowjackets had 13 players record points in the victory.

Perham was eight of 19 from the 3-point line, while shooting 72 percent from inside the 3-point line. The Yellowjackets hit on 39 of their 62 attempts in the game, shooting 62.9 percent in the victory.

Vincent Helmers paced the Hornets with a team high of 10 points.

The Yellowjackets moved to 20-0 overall on the season and 9-0 in the Heart O’Lakes Conference. They return to action on Feb. 10 when they take on Rockford at Alexandria High School at noon as part of the Breakdown Winter Lakes Classic. Rockford enters the contest with a 13-6 record overall.
