The Perham girls basketball team took its three-game winning streak on the road against Detroit Lakes on Jan. 17 at the Ralph Anderson Gymnasium in Detroit Lakes. The Lakers snapped the winning streak in their first home game in over a month with a 56-46 victory.

Bre Price paced the Lakers with 23 points, while Ellie Lunde added 10 points. Mesa Schultz led the Yellowjackets with 10 points. Lacy Richter and Katie Johnson each scored nine.

Both teams had trouble scoring in the early minutes of the latter frame. Perham’s Katie Johnson broke the scoreless streak with a bucket at the 15:40 mark to pull within a point trailing 28-27.

DL center Brenna Price went on a 6-1 run of her own against the Yellowjacket defense to spread DL’s advantage to 34-28.

The Jackets answered with back-to-back baskets from Sydney Anderson and Stella Raser, but Ellie Lunde scored for the Lakers in return and Price pushed the Lakers back up nine points 43-32 with consecutive scores. A Lunde bucket with four-minutes and 20-seconds left in the game gave DL a double digit lead of 45-35.

Perham would get no closer than seven points down the stretch as the Lakers sealed the game late from the free throw line. The Lakers were 15-22 (68 percent) at the stripe.

Price led all scorers with 23 points. Lunde added 10. Anna Cihak scored eight points.

Mesa Schultz led the Yellowjackets with 10 points. Lacy Richter and Johnson each scored nine.
