Perham cruises in home win with Frazee

The Perham boys basketball team avoided the proverbial letdown game after its big victory over Hawley when it hosted the Frazee Hornets on Jan. 18 at the Hive. Twelve Yellowjackets recorded points as the Yellowjackets cruised to a 107-40 victory over the Hornets in a Heart O’Lakes Conference contest.

The third-ranked Yellowjackets had six players finish in double figures and several players pick up their first varsity points in the rout. Jenson Beachy paced the Yellowjackets with 22 points. Elijah Morris finished with 18 points. Morris hit six of his seven 3-point attempts in the game. Perham hit 14 of its 25 3-pointers in the game. Finn Diggins finished with 15 points, Carter Cresap added 14, while Charlie Rasmussen finished with 10 points.

The Yellowjackets built up a 59-22 lead in the first half and expanded that in the second half as they cruised to the 67-point win at home.

Vincent Helmers led the Hornets with 13 points, while Jack Courneya added 10.

The victory improves the Yellowjackets to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the Heart O’Lakes Conference.

The Yellowjackets return home for another HOL contest when they take on Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hive. Following that, the Yellowjackets head on the road for a trip to Pelican Rapids on Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
