Perham-The Perham Yellowjacket boys basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak, knocking off Fergus Falls 63-57 at the Prairie Wind Middle School gymnasium on Tuesday.
Sam Muer finished with a game high of 21 points for the Yellowjackets.
“I thought the kids were really focused and played with a lot of passion throughout the game,” Perham Head Coach Dave Cresap said. “Sam Muer came out of the locker room ready to have a great game. He did everything we could ask of him last night. It was one of Sam’s finest overall efforts of the year.”
Jenson Beachy added 15 points, while Jaden Anderson finished with 17.
“We had a lot of players step up, which makes a team hard to guard. I thought Jaden Anderson, Jenson Beachy and Andrew Johnson did a lot of good things,” Cresap said. “Christian Weis played some really good defense on a very good player in Nathan Rund. I’m very proud of the way the guys off the bench came ready to play.”

Rund finished the game with 16 points, however, struggled from the field, hitting just six of 17 shots.
The Yellowjackets used a strong start against Fergus Falls and it’s something Cresap said came from the team’s focus.
“I think the mental focus played a key role on us getting off to a good start,” Cresap said. “We were really solid on defense the whole game, making them take tough shots. They are a very good team and are well coached, so I’m happy for getting a win.”
The Yellowjackets led by 12 at the half, 30-18. The Otters made a slight run at the Yellowjackets in the second half, however could not overcome the deficit.”
The Yellowjackets are 8-8 overall, while Fergus Falls is 10-10.
The Yellowjackets hope to gain a measure of revenge on Thursday, when they travel to Barnesville.
Barnesville defeated the Yellowjackets, 47-40, in their previous meeting earlier this season.
