Perham-The Perham Yellowjacket offense went quiet for a six-minute stretch in the second half, which allowed the Thief River Falls Prowlers to pull away for a 58-50 victory in boys basketball at the Prairie Wind Middle School on Tuesday, Jan. 20. “I’m really proud of our kids. We never backed down from the physical play,” Perham Head Coach Dave Cresap said. “I couldn’t be prouder. They played their butts off. We are going to be really tough by the end of the year.” During that stretch, the Yellowjackets turned the ball over on eight of nine possessions. On the other end, Jacob Joppru and Ty Brown turned those turnovers into points. Joppru finished with a team high of 15 points, while Brown added 12. “We had a couple of lapses defensively where we didn’t guard as well as we were,” Cresap said. “I thought we did a good job on him (Joppru). Christian Weis did a great job on him and our team defense was good. The turnovers just hurt us down that stretch.” Christian Weis paced the Yellowjackets with 18 points. Jenson Beachy added 12 to finish in double digits for Perham. The Yellowjackets jumped ahead with sharp shooting from the outside. Perham opened the game on a 14-4 run.

The Prowlers maintained that lead until Jaden Anderson and Christian Weis hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Yellowjackets the one-point lead, 30-29. Later in the half, 3-pointers from Weis and Will Anderson evened the game at 36. However, the Yellowjackets went cold and the Prowlers capitalized. We need to play that combination to get better. We are making strides. Two weeks into the season, this would have been a 50-point game, we are making big strides and doing things right.” [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"1474120","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"100","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"97"}}]] TRF 24-34-58 PER 21-29-50 TRF- Grant Stewart 4, Alan Samuelson 7, Will Anderson 5, Ty Brown 12, Dominic Kruse 9, Isaac Olson 6, Jacob Joppru 15 3-point goals- Samuelson, Anderson, Kruse 3, Joppru 2 PER- Reid Moser 6, Jenson Beachy 12, Christian Weis 18, Jaden Anderson 5, Zack Tellinghuisen 3, Andrew Johnson 4, Sam Muer 2 3-point goals- Moser 2, Beachy 3, Weis 3, AndersonPerham-The Perham Yellowjacket offense went quiet for a six-minute stretch in the second half, which allowed the Thief River Falls Prowlers to pull away for a 58-50 victory in boys basketball at the Prairie Wind Middle School on Tuesday, Jan. 20. “I’m really proud of our kids.
