Marcus Belka and Charlie Rasmussen stamped their name into the Section 8AA Boys Golf Championships when they qualified from the Subsection tournament in Park Rapids on May 29.
Belka finished in a four-way tie for first place for medalist honors. Belka, Detroit Lakes’ Lukas Justesen and Daniel Rozsa and Fergus Falls’ Trey Soydara all carded rounds of 76 to earn medalist honors.
Detroit Lakes captured the team title by 14 strokes when it finished with a round of 308. Pequot Lakes came in second with a round of 322, while Fergus Falls came in third at 323. Those three teams qualified for the Section 8AA Championships at the Bemidji Town and Country Club. Perham just missed qualifying when it finished fourth with a round of 335. Barnesville came in fifth at 344 while Hawley was sixth at 376.

The top three teams advance to the Section 8AA Championships, while the top six golfers on the non-qualifying teams advance individually.
Rasmussen fired an 80 to secure a spot at the section championships. Philip Guck came into the clubhouse with an 89, while Dalton Honer finished the day with a 90.
Leighton Rach finished with a 92, while Jett Karels ended the tournament with a 96.
The Section 8AA Championships take place on Monday and Tuesday, June 3 and 4 at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
