DeKalb, Ill. - The North Dakota State women's cross country team finished 13th out of 28 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Saturday, Nov. 12 in DeKalb, Ill. The six-kilometer race was held at the Northern Illinois North 40 cross country course.
Iowa State won the team title with 64 points and Wichita State's Aliphine Tuliamuk won the individual crown in 20 minutes 40.68 seconds. Iowa State and second place Oklahoma State earned automatic bids to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Nov. 21.
Sophomore Heidi Peterson was the top finisher for NDSU, taking 42nd in 22:13.32. Peterson, a first team All-Summit League athlete, was the team's top finisher in all six races this fall.
Fellow sophomore Maddie McClellan was 60th in 22:31.98. Sophomore Kelly Pechous placed 76th in a time of 22:44.64, while freshman Abbi Aspengren was 80th in 22:49.66. Senior Jordan Krahn rounded out the Bison scoring, finishing 98th in 23:02.17.
