CROOKSTON -- Led by senior Josh Nordick's 16 points, the Perham Yellowjackets boys basketball team won their second consecutive game on the road 74-54 over the Crookston Pirates.
"I thought we payed extremely well the first 25 minutes of the game," Perham Head Coach Dave Cresap said. "We lost some of our intensity the second half, but to get a 20 point win on the road against a very good Crookston team, I am very proud of all the guys. We just need to get better each day, and I feel we will be a very good team by the end of the year."
Sam Muer added 11 points. Both Muer and Nordick were 5-6 from the field. Tyler Glines scored 10 points.
Perham jumped out to a 34-21 lead that expanded to an 18-point gap by halftime, 40-22. The teams played even ball in the second half with Perham taking the edge by a bucket 34-32 in the final 18 minutes.
Hunter Salathe flirted with a double-double scoring nine points and pulling down nine boards. Jake Anderson had nine points all from three-point land. Eli Beachy had a nice game of eight points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Crookston (1-1) was led by Aaron Hollcraft's 15. Alex Boon added 12 points.
Perham (2-1) has two huge games against ranked Class 2A opponents next on the schedule. The Jackets return home to face No. 10 Crosby-Ironton this coming Monday, Dec. 10. The Rangers (1-0) defeated Detroit Lakes 68-60 Friday night in the Rangers' home opener.
Friday, Dec. 14, Perham opens up Heart O' Lakes Conference play with the annual showdown in the gymnasium full of orange at No. 3-ranked arch rival Pelican Rapids (1-1). The rematch in Perham is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 25.
