Thief River Falls-Two familiar teams will square off in the first round of the Sub-State 14 playoffs on Thursday in Thief River Falls. The Perham Buzz will take on the top-seeded Moorhead Blues when they kick off postseason play in Thief River Falls.
The Buzz split a pair of games on July 16 with the Blues, dropping a 6-0 decision, before turning four double plays in a 4-2 victory in the second game. The teams are set to take the diamond at 4 p.m. in the first round of the double elimination tournament.
Other first round games include Bemidji squaring off with Fergus Falls, while East Grand Forks will take on Alexandria. Detroit Lakes Area will take on the host, Thief River Falls in the evening's final contest.
The winner of the Perham/Moorhead and Detroit Lakes Area/Thief River Falls game will square off at 6:30 p.m. on July 22, while the loser's of that game will square off in an elimination game at 1:30 p.m. in Thief River Falls. The championship game is scheduled for July 24 at 3 p.m., with an if neccessary game set for Monday at 12 noon.
