The Perham girls cross country team competed against a talent rich field at the St. Olaf Showcase on Aug. 29. The Yellowjackets finished 11th overall out of 34 complete teams at the event. The Yellowjackets were the second Class A team across the line in the event.

Wayzata captured the team title with 76 points, while St. Michael-Albertville came in second with 86 points. Forest Lake was third, followed by Mounds View and Roseville in fourth and fifth places, respectively. Hudson came in sixth, while Woodbury was seventh. Staples-Motley, the first Class A team across the line, came in eighth place, followed by Maple Grove and Hopkins in ninth and 10th, respectively.

The Yellowjackets finished in 11th place with 360 points overall.

Wayzata's Abigal Nechanicki captured the crown with a time of 18 minutes and 19.3 seconds for first place. Zumbrota-Mazappa's Natasha Sortland came in second place at 18:44.9, while a pair of St. Michael-Albertville runners came in third and fourth with Ali Weimer at 18:45.4 and Katie Sigerud at 18:46.4. Waseca's Ella Dufault came in fifth at 19:07.7.

Leading the way for the Yellowjackets was Aspen Rohde. The eighth grade finished in 45th for the team standings with a time of 20:52.8.

Quincy Anderson was right behind in 57th place for Perham. Anderson finished the race with a time of 21:09.6. Perham's Liz Birkeland closed with a time of 21:40.8, while Abby Tweeton was right behind with a time of 21:42.7. Birkeland was 81st, while Tweeton finished in 84th place.

Mya Morris was the fifth Yellowjacket across the line. She finished with a time of 21:51.4, which put her in 93rd for the team scoring. Lauryn Rustad finished with a time of 22:09.9 for 105th, while Emily VanWatermulen finished with a time of 22:32.3 for 124th.

The Yellowjackets are back in action on Aug. 6 with the annual Minnesota State University-Moorhead's Twilight meet at Bluestem in Moorhead.
