The Yellowjackets eighth grade football team finished their season last Thursday night with two victories over the Lakers from Detroit Lakes.

The young Jackets ended with a record of eight wins against only one loss.

During the season, the Jackets focused on the fundamentals of football, teamwork-11 players playing as one, and playing with Yellowjacket Pride.

"These athletes worked hard in practice and games and continually showed improvement in each and every game," Coach John Kostynick said. "The coaches believe that this team will continue the tradition of Yellowjacket football."

Some of the highlights of the year were: the defense allowing an average six points a game for the entire season; beating the team at the end of the year that beat us earlier in the year, averaging 17 points a game on offense, learning new offense and defensive schemes, and having a lot of fun playing and learning the game of football.

Coach Kostynick and Coach Rach would like to thank the athletes for their hard work, the parents for all their support throughout the season, all of the people who helped out throughout the season, and all of the other football coaches for making this season a success.
