Perham Lakeside’s Marcus Belka made quite the jump on day two of the Minnesota State Junior Boys’ Championship at the Pine to Palm Course at the Detroit Lakes Country Club on July 27-28.
Belka opened the first day of the tournament with an 82. However, he improved nine strokes on his score and finished with a 73 on day two. He finished the tournament with a 155 in a tie for 61st place.
Refuge Golf Club’s Dayne Mann used a second day surge to capture the title when he finished with a 138, two strokes ahead of TPC Twin Cities’ Andrew Ramos, who finished with a 180.
Moorhead Country Club’s Ian Simonich was the day one leader after firing a 64. However, struggles on day two cost him his chances at the title. He finished the second day with a 77, finishing with a 141, in a four-way tie for third place with Leo Gellert of the Mankato Country Club, Braeden Sladek of the Geneva Golf Club and Samuel Baker of the Cloquet Country Club.
