A great tradition continued Friday, July 30, with the 36th annual Tuffy Nelson Golf Classic at Perham Lakeside Golf Course.
Over the years, the Tuffy Nelson Golf Classic has raised more than $1.2 million for charity. This year’s recipients were: The Roger Maris Cancer Center, The Pinky Swear Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Make-A-Wish Minnesota.
This year, there were 90 teams and 360 golfers who played, making it one of the largest one-day events in the country, according to Jackie Bunkowske, with KLN Family Brands, which organizes the event.
One highlight of the event was a hole in one by Scott Lindgren, which one him a Club Car Golf Cart sponsored by Club Car and NB Golf Carts. Lindgren aced the par 3 Maple No. 6.
Top individual winners in the non-handicap division were Charlie Larson, shot a 67, second was Tanner Lane with a 68 and third was Casey Nelson with a 69.
Top individual winners in the handicap division were Casey Johnson with a net of 56, Jay Panzer with a 58 and Curt McIravy with a 61.
The top non-handicap team was Dustin Parker, John Stroebe, Stefan Stroebe and Brian Timmer, who were a collective 13 under par, winning by four strokes.
The top handicap team was Casey Johnson, Greg Johnson, Jason Rehder and Paul Belmore, who were a collective 36 under par.
Lakeside Tap and the Arvig Grill Team provided food and beverages during the event and a prime rib dinner was served went the golfing was over.
