Hill takes first in Level 7 as Perham Area Gymnastics Academy competes at Region 4 championships

Three girls from the Perham Area Gymnastics Academy finished with top-five all-around scores in their respective Levels at the USA Gymnastics Region 4 Regional Championships on April 14-16.

MILWAUKEE – The Perham Area Gymnastics Academy sent six girls in Levels 6 through 10 to the USA Gymnastics Region 4 Regional Championships held April 14-16.

Competing in Level 6 were Aubree Huseth, Daisy Carlson, Claire Mickelson and Lucy M.; Addison Hill competed in Level 7; and Aryanna Myers competed in Level 8.

“Our goal is to have the girls peak at the right time around their last meet,” said Coach Sith Hansana. “They did a phenomenal job and brought home some hardware!”

Hill led the team with a first-place finish in the Level 7 all-around with a total score of 36.755, including a first in the vault (9.625), fifth in the bars (9), fifth in the beam (9.1) and a 9.050 in the floor exercise.

Huseth finished third in the all-around in Level 6 with a total score of 35.95, including a first in the floor exercise (9.425), fifth in the bars (8.9), sixth in the vault (8.925) and an 8.7 in the beam.

Myers finished fifth in the all-around in Level 8 with a score of 36, including a first place in the beam (9.45), a sixth place in the bars (8.925), a sixth place in the vault (8.75) and an 8.875 in the floor exercise.

Carlson finished with an all-around score of 35.525 in Level 6, including a fourth place finish in the vault (9.15), a sixth-place finish in the floor exercise (9.325), an 8.65 in the bars and 8.4 in the beam.

Mickelson finished with an all-around score of 34.65 in Level 6, including an 8.65 in the vault, an 8.475 in the bars; 8.575 in the beam and 8.95 in the floor exercise.

Lucy M. finished with an all-around score of 35.075 in Level 6, including a fifth-place finish in the vault (9.125), and an 8.75 in the bars, an 8.3 in the beam and an 8.9 in the floor exercise.

To advance to the meet, the gymnasts had to have received an all-around score of 34 or more at their state meet. In late March, 12 academy gymnasts, including these six, participated in the Minnesota state meet held in Minneapolis.
