Karrigan Hallisey factored into both goals, including scoring a third period game-winner, in a 2-1 girls hockey victory over Bemidji Tuesday night at Kent Freeman Arena.

Hallisey gave the Lakers a 2-0 lead on a tip of a slapshot by Payton Carlblom at even strength.

Bemidji answered with an unassisted power play goal by Gracie Fisher, who got past the goal mouth on an assist by Jacie Lalli.

Carlblom had a breakaway opportunity for an insurance goal with six minutes to play but was stopped by Lumberjack goalie Nettie Kimball.

DL goalie Kyndra McDougall made two big saves late on Maggie Marcotte stopping a backhander and a breakaway in the final half-minute. DL defenseman Annie Campbell did a nice job of not allowing Marcotte to get to the net alone.

Emma Coley hit a pipe on an empty net shot in the waning seconds.

Coley worked hard in front of the net for the game’s opening goal at 8:04 of the first period. Hallisey assisted on the play.

Both teams found the penalty box often. Bemidji went to the box four times in the first period and five times in the game. The Lakers had four penalties in the third period and were whistled for seven infractions.

Each team capitalized once on the man advantage.

DL snapped a seven-game losing streak to improve to 7-15 overall. Bemidji falls to 4-19.

The Lakers play next at Moorhead (7-11-1) Thursday, Jan. 25.

Spuds win by six Thursday

The Moorhead Spuds (8-12-1) opened a 4-0 lead after a period of play at home Thursday and cruised to an 8-2 victory over the Lakers.

Hallisey got DL on the board on an assist from Anna Payne. Abagail King added a late, unassisted goal.

The Lakers (7-16) finish regular season play with a pair of section games hosting Crookston (4-18) Tuesday, Jan. 30 and traveling to East Grand Forks (13-8-1) Thursday, Feb. 1. Detroit Lakes will likely host Park Rapids in the play-in round of the Section 8A playoffs Thursday, Feb. 8. Seeding is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 5.
