Bantam hockey teams win weekend titles

The Detroit Lakes Bantam A hockey team placed first in the 10-team Northern Miracle Classic tournament with teams from all over Minnesota Sunday at Kent Freeman Arena.

Jens Richards scored four goals in a 6-2 championship game victory over Eveleth-Gilbert. Lucas Schwan picked up the victory in net.

DL defeated Bismarck 5-1 in the semifinals, Rochester 2-1 in a shootout, Hopkins 6-4 and Grafton 7-1 in the opener.

The Detroit Lakes/Fergus Falls Bantam B team took home the championship trophy in Grand Forks. The tournament involved 12 teams. The Laker/Otter combo defeated Watford City 5-2, Sioux Falls 6-2, Grand Rapids 8-3, and Minot 7-0 for the championship.
