Perham’s Dawson Kellogg had his run come to an end in the semifinals when he was defeated by Totino-Grace’s Jared Florell. He suffered a pin at the three minute and 52 second mark of his semifinal match. Florell grabbed an early lead and carried the momentum into the second period when he secured the fall.

While, the run for a state championship came to a close for Kellogg, he will still record a medal. Kellogg will wrestle for third place after defeating Albany’s Gage Zierden in the consolation round. Kellogg grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second period and built upon that in the third. He escaped after being taken down by Zierden and turned a takedown of his own into points. He followed with near fall points, securing the 10-2 victory over Zierden.

Kellogg will wrestle Scott West’s Tyler Buesgens in the third place match at 4 p.m.

Ty Moser’s bid for a state medal continued with a victory in the wrestlebacks. Moser defeated Jordan Simonnette of Tri City United. Moser grabbed a 5-1 lead, before allowing a couple of late points, but it was more than enough for the sophomore to hang on.

Moser followed his win over Simonnette with an overtime win over Travis Cappelle of Stewartville. Moser won in the extra period, 6-4.

Moser will wrestle against a familiar face when he squares off with Will Storch for third place. Storch earned a narrow, 3-1, victory over Moser in the quarterfinals.

A second period escape for Annandale/Maple Lake’s Trae Bedford was just enough in his match with Perham’s Zach Peterson. Peterson pushed for a point in the third, but Bedford was able to hold on and pick up the narrow, 1-0, victory.
