EAST GRAND FORKS – The Perham Legion baseball team had a busy eight days.

The Buzz traveled around the midwest to play nine games in just over a week. The action-packed stretch ended with a doubleheader loss on the road at East Grand Forks on Monday night.

After taking game one 4-1, EGF starting pitcher Jeff Vettenrind threw a complete-game shutout in game two. He allowed only two hits and one walk in a 4-0 win. Vettenrind also struck out six batters.

Game one featured another pitching duel. Logan Pulju and EGF’s Logan Spencer kept both sides scoreless until the sixth inning.

The Buzz took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning before EGF struck for three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Monday night’s losses extend Perham’s losing streak to three games. Perham defeated Delano and Duluth Lakeview on Friday and Sunday to snap its first three-game skid of the summer. The Buzz beat Delano 13-4 before Jacob McAllister’s walk-off blast knocked off Lakeview in nine innings.

The Buzz is now 5-6 in the summer before heading to Alexandria for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
