Seventeen Perham Area Special Olympics athletes traveled to Maple Grove August 21-22 to compete in the Minnesota State Special Olympic Fall Games.
On Saturday, all competed in the Singles Bocce tournament competing against 28 other teams from all over the state. When not competing the athletes participated in Health Athlete Health Promotion, which motivates athletes to make healthy lifestyle choices that will improve their long-term health by using interactive educational games. When completing the screening the athletes received a stainless water bottle.
Sunday, the athletes competed in doubles competition all receiving medals. Results for singles: Gold (1st) - Jeff Fritz, Tom Vezner, Manta Fritz, and Philip Tweeton. Silver (2nd) -
Lindsey Buehler, Tyler DeVries, Chris Johnson, Troy Tierney, Brandi Nelson, and Ryan Schattschneider. Bronze (3rd) - Conrad Johnsen, Gary Johnson, Shaun Loader, and Rich Kempenich. (4th) place - Amanda Wothe, Tyler Olsen and Lori Ann Johnson.
