Maplewood State Park will be open during special deer hunt this weekend

Maplewood State Park will remain open this weekend, but visitors are advised to wear blaze orange during a special Deer Management Hunt Saturday through Tuesday, Nov. 9-12.

The hunt is meant to prevent the overpopulation of deer and protect resources, according to a news release from the state Department of Natural Resources. Visitors should also check with the park office for any additional hunt-related information.

Hunts also will take place at other Minnesota state parks and recreation areas this fall, and access to the parks will vary. Some will remain open to all visitors, some will have limited public access and some will be open only to hunters with special permits, according to the release.

For more information about parks availability during the 2019 hunting season, visit , email or call 651-296-6157 or 888-646-6367. Maplewood State Park can be reached at 218-863-8383.
