Millers top Shockers in Region 14C playoffs

Perham- The New York Mills Millers capitalized on shoddy defense by the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers in picking up a 5-0 win in the Region 14C playoffs at Krueger Field.

Perham- The New York Mills Millers capitalized on shoddy defense by the Wadena-Deer Creek Shockers in picking up a 5-0 win in the Region 14C playoffs at Krueger Field. The Millers jumped ahead with a run in the first and three in the second, staking Tyler Patron to the early lead.Patron made it hold up, cruising through the Shocker lineup. He scattered six hits in a complete game shutout. Patron struck out five, while walking one batter. His counterpart, Nick Trosdahl, was strong as well but it was his defense that let him down. The Shockers committed six errors, leading to three unearned runs. Trosdahl allowed just two hits, yet he allowed five runs. Trosdahl struck out  10 batters in eight innings of work. He walked five and hit one batter as well. Patron, Dustin Gaudette and Adam Patron drove in runs for the Millers in the win, while Ben Woodman and Gaudette had the hits for the Millers.Jayme George and Trosdahl had two hits each for the Shockers, while Jacob Trosdahl and Gannon George had hits as well.New York Mills will now play on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 8 p.m., while Wadena-Deer Creek returns to play Detroit Lakes in an elimination game on July 31 at New York Mills at noon.
