Nelson wins Club Championship at Perham Lakeside

It took an extra hole but Perham's Charlie Nelson birdied the first playoff hole to become the 2018 Perham Lakeside Club Champion on Aug. 27 at the Perham Lakeside Golf Course.

Play was halted due to a storm that came through the area, but when it resumed it was Nelson earning the victory.

Nelson and Isaac Guck shared top honors for the event that encompassed all three golf courses at Perham Lakeside. Nelson and Guck finished with 27-hole scores of 111. However, it was Nelson who birdied the extra hole to win in a sudden death playoff on Oak No. 1.

Chris Myhro finished in third place, one stroke off the pace with a 112. Wayne Caughey came in fourth with a 113, while Matt Eckhoff finished with a 114 for fifth place.

Matt Hayden was the winner of the first flight, which was just 18 holes compared to the championship flight, which was 27. Hayden finished with a 77. Dick Dornbusch came in second with an 81.

Don Riepe won the second flight with an 83, while Kieth Nelson came in second with a 91. The third flight was captured by Jason Koch, who fired an 83.

Dornbusch won the Senior Championship, while Riepe finished in second place.
