It was a strong opening night for the Perham Jacket Fishing team on Big Pine Lake on July 9.

The Jackets claimed three of the top five spots during the event.

More than 35 teams from Perham, Fergus Falls, New York Mills, Wadena-Deer Creek, Hillcrest Lutheran Academy and Breckenridge competed in the first event of the new season.

The team of Tait Bormann, Jayden Bormann and Brayden Glorvigen earned top honors. Their boat captain was Randin Olson.

Austin Aanenson and Zach Ebeling came in second place. Their boat was captained by Josh Balcer.

Bella Pazdernik, Morgan Pazdernik and Ethan Brasel came in fourth place for the Perham Jacket fishing team. Their boat was captained by Eric Pazdernik.

The next HOL fishing event will take place on Rush Lake.
