P/NYM tennis sweeps Fergus Falls

The Perham/New York Mills girls tennis team continued its busy stretch with another home sweep when they disposed of Fergus Falls on Sept. 16 at the Perham Tennis Courts.

The Yellowjackets made quick work of the Otters in picking up consecutive sweeps in their most recent dual meets, which included a victory over Park Rapids Area.

Lenius went three sets at No. 1 singles against Ellie Colbeck. Lenius won the first set 6-4, but dropped the second set 5-7. Lenius defeated Colbeck 13-11 in the third set.

Kiera Radniecki defeated Leila Nasri at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, while Beachy cruised at No. 3 singles to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Amber Anderson. Mallory Belka earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ara Weber at No. 4 singles, completing the singles sweep for Perham/NYM.

The doubles duos had success as well, earning straight set victories across the board. Mirta Vorderbruggen and Malia Groff defeated Carlie Meis and Olivia Kaliher in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.


JoJo Winkels and Kendra Moris defeated Elissa Lee and Mackenzie Krara at No. 2 doubles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

LaVonne Lindberg and Maggie Trites completed the sweep at No. 3 doubles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Elizabeth Houge and Mia Marsh.

The Yellowjackets are back in action with a home dual against Parkers Prairie at 4:30 p.m. at the Perham Tennis Courts on Sept. 17.
