The Perham Yellowjackets continued their winning ways Tuesday, May 25, with a 13-2 victory over the Park Rapids Panthers.
Chas Melvin played an integral part in the Yellowjackets' offense, driving in five runs on two hits, including a home run in the second inning and a double in the fifth inning. Logan Pulju also drove in four runs on a grand slam in the fourth inning. Ben Shumansky also drove in two runs in the game.
Gage Germolus was the winning pitcher for the Yellowjackets. He gave up three hits and two runs over five innings while striking out six batters.
The Yellowjackets are 17-2 on the season. They host the last game of the regular season at Krueger Field on Thursday, May 27, at 5 p.m. against Wadena-Deer Creek. Both teams have just two losses on the season.

Yellowjackets sweep doubleheader against Breckenridge
Perham took the lead late in game one of a doubleheader with Breckenridge, leading to a 9-3 victory over the Cowboys on Monday, May 24.
Perham got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Rian Solberg drove in a run on a double. Breckenridge answered in the top of the second inning with two runs. The Yellowjackets tied it up with a run in the bottom of the third after a sacrifice fly by Logan Pulju.
The Yellowjackets added three runs in the fifth inning, including a homerun by Chas Melvin, and they broke the game open in the sixth when they scored four more runs. Pulju and Gage Germolus both had doubles and Solberg had a single in the rally.
Caden Schossow got the win for the Yellowjackets, allowing one run on three hits over three innings. He struck out six batters. Pulju started the game for Perham, giving up two runs on three hits over four innings and striking out five batters.
The second game of the doubleheader was a little closer, but the Yellowjackets still defeated the Cowboys 10-7 when they stole the lead late in the game.
The game was tied at three in the top of the fifth inning when Melvin singled, driving in a run. Ben Shumansky hit a homerun, driving in Melvin. The Yellowjackets put up four runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth and one in the seventh to clinch the victory.
Finn Diggins was the winning pitcher for Perham. He allowed three runs on four hits over four and one-third innings, striking out eight. Austin Aanenson threw two and two-thirds innings in relief, giving up four hits and three runs while striking out four.
The Yellowjackets had 10 hits in the game, with multiple hits from Melvin, Shumansky, and Jack Mensing.
