Perham boys first at Perham Invitational

The Perham boys track and field team opened the 2019 outdoor track and field season with a first place finish at the annual Perham Invitational on April 16 in Perham.

The Perham boys track and field team opened the 2019 outdoor track and field season with a first place finish at the annual Perham Invitational on April 16 in Perham.

The Yellowjackets finished with 139 points for first place, while Frazee came in second with 94 points. Breckenridge was third with 85, while Ottertail Central came in fourth. ABE rounded out the top five.

Perham showed its strength in the relays and distance events as they came away with several top finishes in those events.

Perham senior Isaac Scheidecker posted the fastest time in the 110 meter hurdles when he finished with a time of 15.56. Perham’s 1600m relay finished first with a time of three minutes and 14.97 seconds. The 3200m relay captured top honors as well, finishing with a time of 8:21.70.

Levi Richter earned top honors in the pole vault for Perham. He finished with a vault of nine feet. Colton Kostynick earned a first place finish in the discus. He had a toss of 125-7 for the win. He finished second overall in the shot put.

Chase Belka earned second place honors in the 800m run, while Brandon O’Hara was second in the 1600m run. Bailey Evenson came in second in the 3200m run, while Elijah Morris earned a pair of second place finishes. He was second in the 300m hurdles and second in the high jump.

The Yellowjackets return to the track on April 18 when they host their second outdoor event of the season.
