The Perham boys golf team competed for the first time during the 2019 season when it traveled to Pelican Rapids for the first Heart O’Lakes Conference meet of the season on April 25.
Barnesville captured the team title in the first event with a round of 312. Perham was second with a team score of 330, while Hawley came in third at 332. Pelican Rapids was fourth at 365, while Frazee came in fifth at 383. Breckenridge finished with a round of 393 for sixth to round out the field.
Barnesville’s Mason Moen was the medalist. He finished with a 76, winning on a scorecard playoff. He edged out his teammate, Adam Tonsfeldt, for first place. The two finished four strokes better than Hawley’s Evan Vettern, Barnesville’s Logan Ernst and Barnesville’s Grant Inniger. Those three finished with rounds of 80, with Vettern winning the scorecard playoff.
Marcus Belka was the top finisher for Perham. He finished the day with an 81 for sixth place. He won a scorecard playoff for sixth overall. He edged out Hawley’s Karter Kopacek, who finished with an 81 as well.
Philip Guck came into the clubhouse with an 82, while Leighton Rach finished with an 83. Charlie Rasmussen carded an 84, while Jett Karels finished with an 87.

Dalton Honer ended the day with a 95, while Nick Baker finished with a 103 for Perham.
Next action for Perham will be the Heart O’Lakes Conference vent on May 1 at Hawley, beginning at noon.
