Perham boys second in Hawley, second in Pelican Rapids

The Perham boys track and field team concluded a busy week with a pair of meets in Hawley and Pelican Rapids. The Yellowjackets captured first place honors at the United Clay-Becker Booster Invitational in Hawley, while finishing second at the Hank Emmel Invite in Pelican Rapids. The Yellowjackets were preparing for the annual Section True Team Championships, which took place on May 7 in Detroit Lakes.

Hank Emmel Invite

The Perham boys track and field team showcased its depth at the Hank Emmel Invitational in Pelican Rapids. The Yellowjackets did not compete with a full squad and came out with a second place finish as a team with 68 points. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton finished first with 127.5 points. Pelican Rapids was third with 66 points, while Oak Grove was fourth at 65 and Ottertail Central came in with 58 points.

Isaac Scheidecker captured first place honors in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.05 seconds.It was the lone win for Perham during the event. Scheidecker came in third place in the long jump.

Perham’s 400m relay team came in second place as well. Colton Kostynick finished second in the discus event and was third in the shot put for Perham.

UCB Booster Invitational

The Perham boys came out in front at the UCB Booster Invitational with 173 points. United Clay-Becker came in second place with 115.50 points, while Oak Grove was third with 83 points. Pelican Rapids was fourth, followed by Fertile-Beltrami in fifth.

Chase Belka ran in front of the pack in the 800m run with a time of two minutes, 5.06 seconds. Brandon O’Hara earned top honors in the 1600m run at 4:34.87. The Yellowjackets captured another distance win when Carson Hespe finished first in the 3200m run at 11:00.25.

Isaac Scheidecker posted the fastest time in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.60. Perham captured the 800m relay at 1:36.78.

Bailey Evenson was second in the 1600m run, while Elijah Morris was second in the high jump and Levi Richter was second in the pole vault. Colton Hackel ended in second in the long jump, while Colton Kostynick earned a pair of second place finishes in the shot put and the discus.
