The Yellowjackets boys track team are 2021 Heart of Lakes Conference champions, winning in Hawley on Tuesday, May 25. The girls team came in second place, just four points behind Barnesville.
The boys won the meet by 64 points, with Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and Frazee rounding out the top three. The girls team came in four points behind Barnesville, with United Clay Becker taking the third spot.
In addition to the team victory, Perham's Jakob McCleary broke the conference record for the 1,600 meter run by nearly three seconds with a time of 4:23.99. The previous record was set in 205 by Perham's Billy Beseman with a time of 4:26.5.
The sub-section meet is Thursday, June 3, in Wadena. Field events start at 2:30 p.m. and track events start at 4 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at https://www.vancoevents.com/OSO
