Breckenridge-More often than not when you look at the top of the Heart O’Lakes Cross Country standings it will read Perham Yellowjackets. The Yellowjackets continued their trend of dominance in the HOL with the boys team finishing first for the 14th straight season on Oct. 12 in Breckenridge, Minn.
The Yellowjackets breezed past the competition, finishing with 34 points, besting the 10 team field.
Along with taking the team title, the Yellowjackets claimed the individual title as well.
The Yellowjackets finished with five runners inside the top 15, while all seven finished in the top 20.
The key for the Yellowjackets was the separation they were able to put between the second and third runners for West Central Area.

The Yellowjackets placed three runners between West Central’s second and third runners, enabling them to pick up the HOL Conference Championship.
Perham’s Hunter Kjelshus earned HOL Individual Champion honors with a first place finish. The junior runner finished with a time of 16 minutes, 47.08 seconds for the title.
He was followed by a pair of West Central Area runners in second and third. Rylee Nelson finished second with a time of 16:51.08, followed by his teammate, Christian Swenson, in third. Swenson finished with a time of 16:57.75.
Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton’s Dan Wilson came in fourth. He finished with a time of 17:03.36.
Pelican Rapids’ Samuel Cruz rounded out the top five. He ended the day with a time of 17:05.02.
He was followed by a pair of Yellowjacket runners.
Sophomore Carson Speicher finished the race in sixth place, earning all-conference honors. Speicher finished with a time of 17:19.30.
Perham’s Jacob Dickerson followed in seventh place. Dickerson earned all-conference honors as well. He crossed the line with a time of 17:23.09.

Junior Chase Lietz followed behind Dickerson in ninth place. He finished with a time of 17:33.96, earning all-conference honors as well.
Ninth grader Clayton Anderson came in 11th place for the Yellowjackets. The freshman earned all-conference honors with his finishing time of 17:41.27.
Eighth grader Brandon Ohara followed in 19th place for the Yellowjackets. Ohara finished with a time of 18:14.50.
Adam Siira rounded out the field for the Yellowjackets. Siira finished the race in 20th place, just behind Ohara. Siira ended with a time of 18:18.67.
It was a clean sweep for the boys as well. The Yellowjackets won both the junior high and the junior varsity team events. The Yellowjackets claimed the top three spots in the junior varsity race with Nathan Coleman finishing first, followed by Aaron Wegscheid and Jett Karels.
The Yellowjackets defeated Thief River Falls by 50 points, claiming the junior varsity title.
The Yellowjackets return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 with the Bemidji Invite.
