The Perham Legion Buzz swept Thief River Falls in a doubleheader Tuesday, June 22, in Perham. The Buzz shut out TRF 10-0 in the first game and won the second game 14-3.
Two pitchers-Logan Pulju and Caden Schossow-shut out Thief River Falls in the first game. Pulju got the win for the Buzz, allowing just two hits over four innings and striking out four batters. Schossow threw one inning in relief and finished the game with a strikeout.
Perham scored early, notching three runs in the first inning. Ben Shumansky started things off when he hit an RBI double, scoring Andrew Smith. Jack Mensing drove in Shumansky and Maddux Kovash on a single. The Buzz added another run in the second inning when Smith scored on a passed ball.
In the bottom of the third inning, Perham's Pulju scored on a fielder's choice, then Jacob McAllister drove in Mensing to make the score 6-0. Shumansky then led off the fourth inning with a home run.
Perham added three more runs in the fifth inning. Blaiz Schmidt drove in Mensing and Gage Germolus on a single to center field, and Mason Schepper scored on a single by Shumansky to end the game.

The Buzz had 12 hits in the game, with Shumansky, Kovash, Mensing, and Smith all getting multiple hits. Perham also stole seven bases during the game, with two players stealing more than one. Smith led with three steals.
While Perham wasn't able to get another shutout in game two, they did defeat Thief River Falls 14-3. The Buzz scored all of their runs in the first two innings. Chas Melvin started the scoring for Perham when he homered on the first pitch of his at-bat, scoring two runs. Pulju then drove in Kovash on a ground ball single to left field, and Germolus doubled on a fly ball to center field, driving in Rian Solberg.
Perham secured its victory in the second inning by scoring 10 runs. The big inning included singles by Pulju and McAllister, a home run by Shumansky and Melvin, an error on a ball put in play by Smith, and a double by Schmidt.
Germolus earned the victory for the Buzz, giving up three runs on three hits over three innings and striking out two. Melvin and Schossow each pitched one inning of relief to close out the game.
