Perham drops regular season finale

Fergus Falls-The Perham Yellowjacket football team ran into a buzz saw on Oct. 8 when they traveled to Fergus Falls to take on the Otters in the 2015 regular season finale.

Fergus Falls-The Perham Yellowjacket football team ran into a buzz saw on Oct. 8 when they traveled to Fergus Falls to take on the Otters in the 2015 regular season finale. The Otter duo of Tosten Mann and Isaiah Lemke combined for three of the team’s five first half touchdowns, helping the Otters to a 43-8 victory over the Yellowjackets. Lemke threw for five touchdowns in the first half, with three of them going to his favorite target. He added a pair of touchdown passes to Reece Kramer and Luke Velde before his night was done. Along with the strong passing attack, Rylie Sheridan tore through the Perham defense. Sheridan rushed for 143 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown as well. Perham struggled with turnovers against the quicker Otter team. The Yellowjackets lost three fumbles and threw an interception in the game. It started out well for the Yellowjackets. Dylan Perrine found a streaking Aaron Wilschewski behind the Otter defense for a 78-yard catch and run on the first play from scrimmage. Tanner Berby converted the 2-point conversion, lifting the Yellowjackets to an 8-0 lead early. Momentum stayed with the Yellowjackets when they forced a punt from the Otters. It continued when Jack DeConcini broke free through the Otter defense for a 48-yard run. However, the drive came to an abrupt halt when the Yellowjackets lost a fumble at the Fergus Falls’ 31-yard line.
Fergus Falls wasted little time in capitalizing on the turnover. Lemke connected with Mann on a 64-yard pitch and catch, cutting the Perham lead to one after the extra point. The Otters added to the lead when Lemke hit Mann for the second time. Lemke connected with Mann for a 21-yard score, making it 14-8 after the extra point. The Yellowjackets tried to answer with a big run from Perrine. Perrine broke free for a 41- yard dash, inside the Otter 28-yard line. However, the defense stiffened and forced an interception on fourth down. The Otters closed out the first quarter with another Lemke to Mann connection. Lemke hit Mann for a 35-yard touchdown, making it 21-7. Lemke added an 18-yard score to Reece Kramer and 19-yard pass to Luke Velde to close out the first half, helping the Otters to a 34-8 lead. Sheridan broke free with the opening possession of the second half. He rushed in from 9 yards out. The final scoring played came in the fourth quarter when the Yellowjackets took a knee in the end zone, so they wouldn’t have to punt from the back of their own end zone late in the game. DeConcini finished with 59 yards rushing for the Yellowjackets. Perrine added 54 yards on 12 carries. Tyler Berby finished with 24 yards on nine carries. Perrine threw for 75 yards in the game on two completions. Wilschewski finished with 78 yards receiving for the Yellowjackets. Lemke threw for 189 yards on eight completions with five touchdowns. Mann eclipsed the 100-yard mark with 120 yards receiving and three scores. Lemke connected with six different Otter receivers in the win. Sheridan led the way on the ground for Fergus Falls.
