Perham gets early edge against Otters

Perham’s offensive line put up an impressive show against the Fergus Falls Otters at home on Wednesday night taking the win 34-8.

The one-two punch of Chas Melvin and Colton Hackel got the job done for the Yellowjackets. Perham’s first touchdown would come from Hackel on a 2-yard run in the first. Melvin would grab the second making the run from 3 yards out.

Hackel would also take the next two touchdowns for Perham. With one being from 9 yards and one from 4 yards. He set up Melvin with a 60-yard run to get the fifth touchdown of the game for the Yellowjackets. Melvin wrapped up the second quarter with a 2-yard run.

The Yellowjackets ran for 220 yards in the first half bringing them to a 34-0 advantage at halftime.

Logen Schake broke out the scoring for the Otters in the second half. Fergus Falls’ Andrew Johnson picked up the ball and the two-point conversion for the Otters.

Hackel and Melvin led the Yellowjackets attack throughout the duration of the game. Hackel tallied a total of 172 yards and three touchdowns on 18 rushes. Melvin followed with 88 yards, two touchdowns on 15 carries.
