Perham girls basketball coach T.J. Super has introduced an event that will showcase the Perham girls basketball program. Jacket Madness begins at 4 p.m. at the Hive.
Super said it’s an event he has thought about hosting the event for a couple of years, but with the new gymnasium and facilities, he felt it was a good time to crank it up.

The event will feature a pair of seventh-and-eighth grade games against Detroit Lakes at 4 p.m. on a pair of courts.

At 5:15 p.m., the third-and-fourth grade teams will take the courts for a pair of scrimmages, followed by the fifth-and-sixth grade girls scrimmaging at 5:50 p.m. on two courts.
Super said with this event there are several goals. He said they wanted a night where all the girls in grades three-through-12 would be playing as a program night of basketball.
“We’re going to have all of our parent meetings and this seemed like da great way to get them to come in,” Super said. “Lastly, since this will the first night basketball is being played in the new gym, we thought some people might want to come in and check out the Hive.”
The 9-12th grade players will hit the court at 7 p.m. for an intrasquad scrimmage. The event will feature shooting contests for girls of all ages and all fans at halftime of the scrimmage. Super said they hope to make it fun for the fans that are watching. Concessions will be available all evening as well.
“This is a free event for everyone, so we are inviting anyone that wants to check out some basketball to come in, not just parents,” Super said. “We’re excited about the team, the girls have put in a lot of time, so we’re looking forward to getting up-and-down the new floor. Hopefully, this can become a yearly event.”
The event begins at 4 p.m. at the Hive at the Perham High School on Nov. 15.
