The Yellowjackets turned a one-point halftime deficit into a 20-point victory over the Hawley Nuggets at The Hive Friday, Feb. 12, winning 68-48.
In the first half, Perham came from behind to within one point, trailing 37-36. The team made some adjustments at halftime, and they worked.
“We had that stretch in the first half that we stopped doing what got us that big league, playing defense and getting great shots,” Coach TJ Super said, “but the girls regrouped at halftime and executed to near perfection.”
The Yellowjackets took the lead early in the second half thanks to strong post play and passing by the guards. Forward Willow Thiel led the team in scoring with 15 points, followed by guards Sydney Anderson and Katie Johnson with 14 points each.
The win brings the Yellowjackets to 6-3 on the season. Their next game is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in Barnesville.
