Perham girls win second straight home meet

It was a clean sweep for the Perham girls track and field team. The Yellowjackets captured their second straight home event at the Perham Invitational on April 18 at the Ted Meinhover Athletic Complex.

It was a clean sweep for the Perham girls track and field team. The Yellowjackets captured their second straight home event at the Perham Invitational on April 18 at the Ted Meinhover Athletic Complex.

The Yellowjackets went two-for-two in home meets at their home complex, using their depth across the board to win the meet. Perham finished with 176.5 points, while Barnesville came in second with 105.5 points. Frazee was third with 75 points, while Park Rapids Area came in fourth and Ottertail Central was fifth. United North Central rounded out the filed with 18 points.

Mya Morris earned first place honors for Perham in the 3200 meter run. She finished with a time of 12 minutes and 48.48 seconds. Perham captured wins in the 1600m relay with a time of 4:20.14 and the 3200m relay with a time of 10:19.57.

The Yellowjackets were dominant in the field events. They captured first place in the pole vault, shot put and discus. Ashley Hokanson was first in the pole vault at 11 feet. She was followed by Shalie Lipp in second at 10 feet and Mackenzie Rohloff in third at seven feet, six inches.

Maggie Ingebrand claimed the top spot in the shot put. She finished with a winning put of 35 feet, 8.5 inches.

Samantha Charboneau earned first place honors in the discus. She had the winning toss of 97 feet, nine inches. Tayler Parks was second in the event at 95 feet, six inches.

Lizzy LaFond finished second overall in the 100m dash at 12.90 seconds, while Mesa Schultz came in second in the 200m dash at 27.63 seconds. Caitlin Covington was second in the 800m run at 2:33.00, while Hailey Wegscheid came in second at 5:54.77. Lacy Richter finished in second of the 300m hurdles, ending with a time of 51.46.
