For the second consecutive year, the Perham Yellowjackets claimed the Section 8A gymnastics title, edging out Melrose and Detroit Lakes to advance to the Class A state tournament. The Jackets will defend their state title Friday, March 26, at Champlin Park High School.
Individually, Perham senior Jada Olsen was the Section 8A All Around champion, with a score of 36.85. She will also defend her individual All Around state title. Olsen also took first in the uneven bars with a score of 9.50 and the floor with a score of 9.45.
Avery McAllister took first in the vault with a score of 9.50 and third in the beam with a score of 8.90, so she will participate in those individual events at state. Additionally, Brittney Lorentz advances to state in the vault, in which she placed sixth with a score of 9.20, and the bars, in which she placed fifth with a score of 9.05.
