Just a few days after being edged by Detroit Lakes in a dual meet, the Perham/New York Mills boys swimming team returned the favor at the Last Chance Invitational in Park Rapids on Feb. 1.
The Yellowjackets posted a second place finish in the four team meet. They finished with 444 points, while Detroit Lakes came in third with 442 points. Bemidji swam out in front and captured the team title with 572.5 points. Park Rapids Area finished fourth with 353.5 points in one of the final meets before the section championships at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
The team of Blake Swenson, Kyle Swanson, Max George and Daniel Kingsley finished fourth in the 200 freestyle relay at two minutes and 2.14 seconds.
Luke Becker followed with a fifth place finish in the 200 freestyle at 2:19.48. Kingsley followed with a seventh place finish in the 200 individual medley at 2:42.40.
Brady Rohloff came in sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 29.48, while Swenson was fifth in the 100 butterfly. He finished with a time of 1:21.16.

Becker captured seventh place honors at 1:03.18 in the 100 freestyle event.
Swanson finished third with a time of 6:05.82 in the 500 freestyle race for Perham/NYM.
The team of Kingsley, Becer, George and Swanson finished with a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.71.
Bieger followed with a fifth place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:18.93, while Swanson came in with a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:19.43.
Perham/NYM closed in fourth place in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Bieger, Swenson, Hermie Frost and Becker came in with a time of 4:36.19.
The Yellowjackets return to a familiar place on Feb. 7 for the annual Mid-State Conference meet in Park Rapids. The conference meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Detroit Lakes 90, Perham 78
In its final dual of the season, the Perham/New York Mills boys swimming team suffered a 90-78 defeat to Detroit Lakes on Jan. 28 at the Detroit Lakes Community Center.
The Yellowjackets finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.11 behind the efforts of Blake Swenson, Luke Becker, Kyle Swanson and Daniel Kingsley.
Max George and Jonah Bieger finished first and second in the 200 freestyle. George finished with a time of 2:16.42, while Bieger came in at 2:30.42.
Kyle Swanson and Blake Swenson claimed the top two spots in the 200 individual medley. Swanson was first at 2:28.62, while Swenson came in at 2:44.36.
Kingsley was second in the 50 freestyle at 25.47, while Swanson was second in the 100 butterfly at 1:07.38.
Kingsley was fourth in the 100 freestyle at 1:00.15.
George captured his second win of the meet when he finished with a time of 6:22.09 in the 500 freestyle. He was more than 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
George, along with Luke Becker, Bieger, and Swenson, captured the 200 freestyle relay race with a time of 1:54.95.
Swenson was third in the backstroke when he finished with a time of 1:11.18, while Becker was second in the 100 breaststroke at 1:19.62.
The team of George, Kingsley, Bieger and Swanson captured top honors in the 400 freestyle relay. They finished with a time of 4:05.94.
