Perham/NYM Tennis continues streak

The Perham/New York Mills girls tennis team continued to roll with a 5-2 victory over Moorhead on Sept. 23 at the Perham Tennis Courts.

It's the seventh straight dual meet victory for the Yellowjackets since a 5-2 defeat to Pequot Lakes on Aug. 29. The Yellowjackets dropped a pair of singles matches, but swept the doubles portion to earn the 5-2 win over the Spuds in the dual that was rescheduled due to weather earlier in the season.

Katrynu Hansen defeated Jade Lenius at No. 1 singles in a match that went the distance. Hansen lost the first set 4-6, but came back to take the second set, 7-5. Hansen won the tie-breaking third set 10-6 to earn the win at No. 1 singles.

Azylen Lunak was victorious at No. 2 singles with a straight set victory against Kiera Radniecki 7-5 and 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

The Yellowjackets captured a pair of singles wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. Beachy defeated Nicole Hooglan in three sets 6-4, 4-6 and 10-6 for the win at No. 3 singles.

Mallory Belka earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Josie Ralumer at No. 4 singles for the second singles point for Perham/NYM.

The duo of Mirta Vorderbruggen and Malia Groff captured a 7-5, 6-1 win over Kylie Dumas and Racheal Craig at No. 1 doubles. JoJo Winkels and Kendra Moris rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Emma Craig and Anna Korsmo at No. 2 doubles.

Lavonne Lindberg and Maggie Trites won in straight sets when they defeated Bailey Overbo and Ashley Knutson 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

The Yellowjackets returned to action with a road dual meet at Staples-Motley on Sept. 24, before traveling to Wadena-Deer Creek for a dual on Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. at the Wadena Tennis Courts.
