The Perham Yellowjackets used a big first half as they cruised to a 50-8 victory over the Frazee Hornets in their 2018 football opener at the Ted Meinhover Field on Aug. 31 in Perham.
Jenson Beachy passed for 221 yards and four first half touchdowns as the Yellowjackets downed the rebuilding Frazee Hornets.
The Hornets are playing a full varsity schedule after canceling the varsity season a year ago. Russ Hackel takes over at the helm for the Hornets as he tries to rebuild the program which played a full junior varsity schedule last season.
Perham built up a 16-0 lead in the first half when Beachy connected with Josh Jeziorski for a 30-yard score and Zach Peterson for a 49-yard score. Peterson finished with 3 receptions for 84 yards and two scores.
Beachy hit Ty Moser for an 8-yard connection in the second quarter. Moser finished with three receptions for 75 yards and set a new school record. Moser passed Ben Waldon and Mac Stoll with 14 career touchdowns.

Perham struck on special teams as well with Noah Rooney taking a punt back 54 yards for the score in the second quarter. Moser added a 1-yard touchdown run, which was followed by a Beachy to Peterson connection for 39 yards, giving Perham a 44-0 lead at the break.
Colton Hackel added a third quarter touchdown run, before Frazee broke the shutout bid when Dylan Selly punched n from a yard out. He converted the 2-point try as well.
Luke Tweeton led the Frazee ground attack with 72 yards rushing on nine carries. Cole Fleisher hit seven passes for 75 yards, but was intercepted twice.
The Yellowjackets rushed for 150 yards as a team with Finn Diggins leading with 40 yards rushing. Perham passed for 221 yards as well.
The Yellowjackets return to action when they hope to maintain possession of the paddle. The Yellowjackets travel to Detroit Lakes to take on the Lakers. The Lakers opened the season with a convincing 40-19 victory over Rocori. The Yellowjackets and the Lakers kick off at 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.
